If your cat is older and perhaps has joint pain from arthritis or just wear and tear from an active life, you may already know about the benefits of a heated cat bed and the comfort and relief from pain that it will bring to your cat.
You may not know of other benefits such as improvement of your cat's immune system and how the warmth helps to soothe and relax a recouperating cat, helping him to rest and recover.
In addition, an outdoor heated cat bed is ideal for the outdoor cat who needs a bit of extra comfort in the winter months.
The thing I had not thought about until I read it on a veterinary site is that a heated bed also brings your cat comfort if he is lonely when perhaps you are out at work all day as it gives him the same feeling of warmth and security that he would get sitting on your lap and this would be the reason I would buy one.
These beds are so safe, they only have a 4 watt heating element and only get up to 102 degrees fahrenheit which is the cat's natural body temperature so they cost almost nothing to run.
This article I wrote on hubpages has more details and product links to where heated cat beds can be bought at the best prices online.

Top Five Gifts for Small Dogs
This is Bandit, my Jack Russell Terrier. This is his favourite spot, here on my lap, helping me while I work on the computer. I took this photo with my webcam whilst I was trying to upload some links the other day.
Anyway, I hope he approves of my selection of top five gifts for small dogs. The selection on the left are available from Amazon.com and if you live in the UK, I have also posted the details of the same (or similar) item on Amazon.co.uk on the right - here goes!
This is my number one choice, the Wiggly Giggly Ball for small dogs. The version on the left is from Amazon.com, the version on the right is from Amazon.co.uk. The wiggly giggly ball is cute and makes cute noises. One word of caution is that it is not a chewy ball - if the dog has a desire to chew on it then it will be history in no time.
At number 2 in my list, what could be nicer than a cosy pet blanket - at this price, why not buy several, they make great throws for an armchair, I cosy sleeping blanket in your dog's bed or travel cage.
Number 3 in my list is the Air Kong set of balls - they come in various sizes to suit any dog. These balls are strong, bouncy and squeak - what more does a dog need? Mine is very happy with his. Worth spending a little more for toys that last rather than cheap toys that break within days of purchase.Would strongly recommend KONG products
Number 4 on my list is the Rag Rope Ball from Petstages. This is a must for any dog that loves to play fetch, tug of war and has a fetish for chewing! Absolutely brilliant buy! It keeps them occupied for hours and is surprisingly robust considering it is made from material!
Number 5 on my list is a great treat dispenser from Kong toys. Perfect for dogs that like to chew. Perfect for dogs of the Jack Russell size (Bandit says!!). These toys are great for playing fetch with outside, as they bounce well. But due to their shape they don't always bounce up in the direction expected unlike balls so add to your dogs fun. Easily filled with treats like cheese spread, peanut butter and Kong stuff n paste to keep them amused indoors too. They can also be put in the freezer so that it takes your dog longer to lick out the filling. One of the best toys on the market, a little expensive but worth every penny spent on it.
